What is cellulite?
The body's muscles are wrapped in a padding of fatty connective tissue. The fatty cells of the padding, bathed in a liquid medium, are held in place by a network of fibers, nourished and cleansed by body fluids. When this process is slowed down, the tissue is flooded with waste materials that thicken into a gelatin-like substance, forming pockets which migrate closer to the skin's surface. The visible result: a puckered 'orange peel' effect on the skin's surface.
What causes cellulite?
Cellulite is far more common among women than men, which indicates that hormonal differences play a major role in its formation. While cellulite tends to appear in parts of the body where excess fat is deposited, it is widespread among both thin and overweight women.
Treatment - what to expect
During Accent XL RF treatment, your doctor will apply the treatment tip to your skin, precisely heating the skin's inner layer (dermis), while its outer layer (epidermis) is continually cooled. Depending on the size of the treated area, treatment may take from about 20-50 minutes. You should see a gradual improvement.
Following treatment, you can immediately resume all routine activities. You may notice slight temporary redness, which should disappear in less than 24 hours. While Accent XL RF has shown to be safe, effective and long-lasting, maintenance treatment may extend and improve upon results.
Does it hurt?
While pain tolerance is individual, most people tolerate Accent XL RF treatment well, and have little or no discomfort. Patients often describe the sensation as a warm massage.
The Accent XL Advantage
The prevalence of cellulite has led to hundreds of purported treatments, including topical solutions, massage-based techniques and surgical procedures, such as liposuction - most with less than optimal results. Topical treatments do not penetrate the skin, and can render only temporary and superficial effects. Obviously invasive, surgery is accompanied by risk, relatively long recovery and doubtful results.
The Accent XL radiofrequency system represents the newest method in cellulite treatment. By selective dermal heating that stimulates the production of new collagen, Accent XL has been shown to improve skin surface texture.
Accent XL RF cellulite treatment is effective, non invasive, and an easy, comfortable treatment for the patient. |
